Challenge
This city-centre hotel was experiencing operational pressure due to persistent cleaning demands in guest-facing areas. Bathroom fixtures were prone to hard water staining and limescale, while carpets required constant spot treatment to maintain a presentable standard. These tasks placed a considerable burden on housekeeping staff, reducing the time available for other detailing duties that define a premium guest experience.

The hotel faced two critical challenges affecting its profitability and reputation:
- Labour Pressure and High Housekeeping Costs: A large portion of the housekeeping budget was being consumed by labour intensive cleaning tasks and the ongoing use of specialised cleaning agents, many of which were harsh on surfaces.
- Inconsistent Appearance and Asset Wear: Despite daily effort, issues like limescale, grout discolouration, and carpet stains continued to appear. These not only affected the visual standard but contributed to surface degradation over time.
Solution
Nordic Chem was engaged to provide a long term protective solution that would improve daily cleaning outcomes and reduce overall labour demands. A detailed site evaluation identified the areas most prone to high effort and visual inconsistency, particularly where guest satisfaction was most sensitive.

The treatment was applied to:
• 120 guest bedrooms, including all bathroom surfaces and fixtures
• Bedroom carpets across the full room set
• 125 square metres of lobby flooring
• 375 square metres of restaurant flooring
This created a uniform, easy to maintain cleaning standard across both private and shared areas.
Results
The implementation delivered strong operational improvements:
• 4,936 labour hours saved annually
• 123% increase in productivity (sqm cleaned/hour)
• £31,674 in total annual savings, including product and application costs
